Antigua
40 x 32 cm
Along with the Caribbean island of equal name, this 40 x 32 centimeters oil on canvas piece shares with it an eye-catching predominence of greens and blues, striking a sense of natural beauty and tranquility through an abstract scope. The presence of white, scratch-like lines aid in representing other elements of this seaside scenario where water, waves and land collide. Tom Jobim’s track Antigua, a word that means “ancient” in Spanish, sonically weds this concept and scenery together through the clever use of the harpsichord and woodwind in its composition, imparting to it a certain baroque character.
“Para encontrar o azul eu uso pássaros.”
